I have no luck with these! I have tried the candy cane, the cheapo from Michael's. I have also purchased the Swarovski crystals from a few different places thinking that might make a difference. Next I went ahead and purchased new tips thinking maybe I got some bad ones? More than 1/2 of the stones I try to pick up don't work. The tool just doesn't pick them up. If I push down really hard and get them to stay on the tip and melt the glue, then they don't want to come out and I have to use a pin to push them out. How DO you all do it? Now I have tons of crystals and no way to apply them. Thanks for any tips!

I bought the one from Michael's too. I also have a problem picking up some crystals so I use a pair of tweezers to place them on the tips. I also have a problem with the 3mm crystals sticking inside the tip - only the 3mm - I jsut use the tip of a hair clip to slide them out. I don't do a whole lot of hotfixing...otherwise, I'm sure I would be really irritated with the whole set-up. Another method I use - place the crystal where you want it and use the "hot spot" tip to press it down...kind of like an iron. Hope this helps!

Are you using the right tip with the hot fix? Meaning 16ss crystals with the same size tip? I do have problems every once in awhile with my crystals but not very often. I normally only purchase from hotfixqueen.com. I have not had much luck with the ones from Michaels.

I also have the one from Michaels and have no clue.. I put it away and stopped trying because my crystals ALWAYS melted inside the thing.. and yes I was using the right tip.
I even tried to put the crystal on the ribbon and put the hot fix onto and nope it would get stuck on the hot fix and not come off and melt.
So with you ladies, any advice would be great!

yaz_daz.. Hot Fix tool is to out the crystals on your ribbon or clothing or whatever!

I just tried out my hot fix tool called a "Bejeweler" and it is fantasic. Now I am not trying to hold a crystal and apply glue without dropping it.

I love it.

I wait until the tool is super duper hot before trying to pick up the crystal. Then I use a large needle to dislodge it. It seems like the hotter the tool is, the better it works... I can just pick it up and use it without the needle... it does get frustrating, but way better than trying to use your fingers :)

Hello! I'm a newbie around here but thought I'd offer some advice. I rhinestone dance costumes with Swarovski hot fix rhinestones, so as you can imagine I use alot of them! I use an electric skillet to heat my rhinestones. I lay them all out glue side up then turn the skillet on. Then I use a toothpick or a needle to pick it up then flip it onto the spot I want it and press on it with a thimble. Works good and is very fast. I've been known to use a waffle maker in a pinch too. :)

So you bling in the kitchen or have a pan like the old electric skillets you plug in where you sit and work? There would be no room in my tiny kitchen to stand there and bling anything and the way the flip out, my floor would look pretty and shiney LOL

That is a great tip, I never thought of that! Thanks for sharing

I will add here that I have been blinging things for a long time now. I really don't ever have to use my hotfix tool! When I am doing clothes, etc. I just use the mylar paper and then you iron them on. I have NEVER (knock on wood) had a customer say they have fallen off. Even when they are washed. When I add bling to bows and headbands I just use the "flatback" ones without the actual "hot fix" and then I glue them! HTH!
