This post gets "bumped" up as a friendly reminder when we have newer members who are posting one word responses to threads in order to make their post count go up faster. It happens every so often.

I'm glad someone asked what "bump" meant. I was wondering. So, does that mean if you find a really good thread from awhile back you can type "bump" and it'll put it up front so newer people can see?

I was just sitting here thinking the same thing about bump. I was just searching for the answer and happened to fall into this. Thank you. I hope I didnt make that mistake since joining. I just learned how to be a Senior member (I thought I had to be a Senior Citizen) lol

Does "bump" count as one work reply?? he he

Dang, I would be in like flynn if it were a "senior citizen" for senior member. I just started browsing your site, found it over at Hipgirls. I finally became a senior member there and look forward to becoming one here too. I am addicted to tutorials. I buy them all the time on Etsy. I have bought shoes tuts, flower tuts, rose tuts, dress tut's.. I am a tut addict. Loving free tuts. I have found I can usually find just about anything on youtube.. and I am really a more visual person..

Bump is just a word you put on an old post to bring it back to people's attention.

This thread is about NOT posting one word replys to other threads just to get your "post number" up to 100 just to become a senior member. When someone is doing just this - someone will "bump" this thread to remind members of this rule.

The rules are fine...I'm glad you will require all messages to be written using appropriate language.:) I'm not very computer literate so I may need some help reaching the threads I'm looking for.:o:confused1: I'm trying though.cheerl Thanks, mrswonderful

BUMP

Ladies - please do not drag up old posts with short responces. We would like everyone to interact. But you don't have to comment on every post you read to get your 100 posts.

THANKS!

I wonder HOW we can make people see this and realize that posting continually on old threads is not generally accepted? We totally understand them wanting to get to 101 posts, but when it knocks down the relevant new posts that it gets frustrating.

I was just thinking maybe one of us should go to their greeting post each time they say hello and maybe point them to the rules.. dunno if that would work either though.

I've gone as far as pming people that do this to direct them to these rules, and they contiue to do it. Not sure what else to do either

Not everyone says hello before they go off on their rampage :001_tongue: But I do think it would be a good idea anyway.

Yeah, i recently thought about PM'ing someone, but didnt think it was my place to say anything. Its one thing to search and post ideas like some do, but to just go thru and comment on everything and get 55 posts in 1 day is just crazy...

I think the only other option would be to lock the older threads, but I'm sure V would rather leave all posts open.

Yeah, I do think they should probably be left open too... guess we will have to keep weeding through??

I know this can be fustrating but how else are the junior members suppose to get their post? Not like new threads are posted constantly. Besides now that I have figured out how to subscribe to a thread I am seeing stuff that I missed. At least they are participating and I think we shouldn't punish them for that.

We arent saying they cant post on some things, but when someone comes in and posts, nice tie, neat, pretty... etc on 55 to 75 things in one day, then they are deliberately trying to get to 100.... The point is for them to contribute. We had one girl go and actually find 100 tutorials and things... that was awesome... not saying thats what they need to do either, but maybe a little of both and not all in 1 day!

I completely agree with this. The short This is nice, etc posts are not really contributing anything. If people feel they must post on the old posts at least limit it to a handful at a time. It is when we have to weed through two and three pages of old posts that is starts to become a problem.

I understand what you are both saying but some people are just not as chatty as the rest of us. And if someone wants to go thru 100 tuts on one day I think thats up to them. Give them time and they will be more comfortable with us and start making more chats. I am sure if you go back and look at my and others early posts mine where not very long.

BusyBumbleBee
01-25-2011, 10:02 PM
Tut's are for those that contribute, not free for the taking. If they were, then there wouldn't a 100 post min. and min membership time. Plus, most people do their "neat, cute" thing, get to 100, take the tuts, and you never see them again.

Meaningless posts are against the rules plain and simple. When someone joins the forum they agree to the rules.
