1. Contact local salons, consignment stores and other boutiques for selling your products.
2. If you prefer to sell online, register a domain name ex: www.poshnpretty.com (http://www.poshnpretty.com) . Mine is registered with godaddy for $6.99 with 20% off coupon.
3. My previous host was www.wahmshoppes.com (http://www.wahmshoppes.com).
Wahmshoppes is easy for any newcomer. You pay like $7 a month. Very easy to setup.

My new host is with www.lunarpages.com (http://www.lunarpages.com). I now pay $4.95 a month with unlimited bandwidth and storage.

I changed my host as i couldnt back up my database and i needed php and mysql for my DH's work.

Little bit technical knowledge is required, after then its like a breeze.:thumbup1:

4. Hosting setup will take 2 to 5 days. By then start taking photos of your inventory, open a excel sheet and keep everything ready to upload.

5. Promoting: The crucial part of any business is getting your name out there.
I registered mine with dmoz.com, Yahoo and google.

6. Submitting articles, participating in active groups and link exchanges are highly encouraged.

Above all, if you sell a quality product, more repeat customers will comeback and more business to you!

All the best!

You can sell stuff on personal websites. I have seen a few people do that (on blogs too!). They take orders and use Paypal to collect payment.

Thanks for the tips. I was going to try Costco.com, but this seems cheaper. Craft fairs are not working for me here in CA, so I thought I would try online.

Great information, thanks for sharing. It's scary, not knowing what step to take first. Most of the time you don't take any, then later regret it when you see everyone else's great web sites.

Thanks for the info, I'd like to register a domain name, but have to wait until we catch up on a few other finances. But how do you register your name with Yahoo and Google?

Yahoo submission

Site Explorer - Yahoo! Site Explorer (https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/)

Google Submission

Add your URL to Google (http://www.google.com/addurl/)

Make sure your website is not under construction. If the clicks do not go thru, those sites are considered black listed:)

Thanks for the advice. After making bows for about 3 years for my daughter, I am finally going to start selling them. I need all the advice I can get.

Thanks for these tips! I'm just starting out with the sales side of my crafting - I've been doing for gifts and personal use and this is incredibly helpful!
