I have a great photographer, right. And I understand she's trying to make money through our partnership too. However, I'm not always 100% happy with the pictures. She is focusing on the model, not the product so the parents will buy pics from her. On the other hand, I'm giving her good products for free just so I can have the photos to use. But the products aren't being featured to their fullest. Get what I'm saying? And she's asked me before, are the pictures ok? I've told her to try and get the child to tilt their head more instead of looking straight at the camera so I can see the whole hair accessory... must have gone in one ear and out the other.

So I was contacted by another photographer that does amazing work. She does other hair boutiques too, so the products really pop from what I've seen.

I don't want to mess up my relationship with my current photographer because she's great. Her style is a little more subdues, where the new photograher is more bright and vibrant (kind of more of what I'm wanting).

So now what do I do? Use both? But how do i work it out with my current photographer?

well I just check your web and see what you are talking about,I see the curly puff and the picture don't show your product what I see is the little girl in the chair...

If I be you I change, relationship need to be separate to the bussines, she will undestand this...

You need a picture focus in your product and you don't get this...

I had thought before that the pictures didnt show you product too well. If shes doing a shoot, how hard is it to do an extra pic for you? I mean, its digital, it shouldnt be too much of a cost for her. I think you should talk to her and be direct with her. Just let her know that you are needing a little more from her. Also, let her know that you understand she has her own business, and is busy too, and that you would like to go to another photographer, so you can get double the exposure, and have more availability for your product to be photographed. Do you think she would turn down another boutique to photograph? I highly doubt it.

I wouldn't cut ties with your current photog until you get pics of your products from the other photog..just because samples look great doesn't mean that your photoshoot will be perfect. kwim...but I do think it would be worth telling your current photog before the next shoot that you need shots that focus on the product not the princess or the trade will no longer be worth it for you. Maybe as you cut ties it its worth it for you to still get some pictures from her to limit what products you offer to her as a trade. Just thinking outloud lol

I would definitely be more upfront with your current photographer on what you need from the deal. Like one of the other girls said .. .one more digital photo that focuses on your product isn't going to cost her more. Maybe you could give her a sample of what you mean/want!?!? The deal has to make both partners happy right!?!

Maybe have your current photog do tutu, wings, shirts, etc.... things that are body shots since you might get a better product shot from her that way and try the new lady on hair items.

I agree. I just need to talk to her and be more up front about what I need. Some pics are great, other's not so much. She works with higher end clients, so I don't want to totally cut my ties. But you are all right, it can't be that much more work to get a side shot just for me and my site.

Like I said, my current photographer is more soft with her photography, and I would like to send her the more vintage type piece, that are more her style of photography. but I'd like to roll out my birthday line before the summer and that I want to be bright and fun. For that I'd like to use this new photographer.... The new photographer shot a friend of mine's wedding and the pictures from that were amazing too. Just a whole different feel to it.

My current photographer does use other bows, they may be the clients bows, but they aren't all mine. She also uses a lot of hats, so that gives her different props that I don't provide.

I'm just going to have to talk to her....

She is supposed to be sending me pictures soon of about half a dozen products I sent her in Dec. If the pics aren't great, I will request for something "better."

I ordered a jersey manequin, that should be shipping out today. I also bought some new fabric for back drops. I think I'm going to use that for tutus, and just do those myself. I am getting tired of sending products and not getting pics right away, and then not getting the best pics when they do arrive.

I understand that she can't force her clients to wear my products, but when they do, why not get a couple shots just for me?!? I mean, she's getting this stuff for free
