That is a pretty flower. I have a free tutorial bookmarked for a similar one, I like both! I'll have to get posting too ... I'd like to see how to do those. I think fabric flowers might be my next venture! smil)
I hope it's okay to share the link for the one I have ... if not please remove it!

Barbara (or anyone else who wants to answer this) how do you choose your fabrics? Is there a specific blend you use? I want to try this bow, but I'm worried I won't have the right blend of fabric, or I'll create a bow with too much going on. Do you have to starch the fabric bows?

I just chose colors that look good together. I don't have a formula... just my own tastes. Sometimes I put some together that I don't think will look nice and they do, sometimes I think it will work and it doesn't. Look in magazines and get a sense of what is popular (color wise) and select some fabrics along those lines if you get stuck. Some stores (Micheal's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, etc) sell pre-bundled fat quarters that have coordinating fabric. That is a great option that will take some of the guess work out of choosing.
Starching the fabric will make them more crisp and neat and will hold their shape better.

so i tried making one of these today... I will have to post a pic later when i get better lighting. I guess it turned out ok, but i am wondering how do you keep your fabric from freying? I was thinking about adding this to a onsie or something, but afraid once it gets washed it will fall apart...

I get some fabric scraps/ off of etsy. You can normally get some really nice designer fabrics that way.
