I finally gave in and ordered the TopNotch Bow Templates:clap:. I've been trying to make bows like the twisted bow since I got started and never figured it out. These templates are supposed to make bow making faster and more consistent. Anyone use these? I already downloaded the e-book and there's lots of good info in there, but still waiting on the templates. Just wondering if anyone else uses them and their opinoin?

I also have the TNT templates but still cannot get the twisted botique bow down. But I must say I have gone from not doing it at all to a not so good twisted. I still keep plugging away at it.

No, I've never used the TNT. But the Sally Clip works great for the bows that I make.

I too bought the Sally's clip but it just seemed more of a pain then a help so I gave that up. These templates seem a lot easier. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Cross your fingers for me!

I have yet to throw a bow across the room, but I've come close! Kinda the way I felt when i tried the Sally's clips to. Let's hope I don't do that with these templates that cost way more then the clips!

Keep practicing. Once you learn with the templates, it is so much easier and they come out perfect everytime. It is so easy once you get the hang of it. The twisted boutique is a little diffferent if your used to folding by hand. Try a few of the other style bows to get used to the templates.I also have the TNT templates but still cannot get the twisted botique bow down. But I must say I have gone from not doing it at all to a not so good twisted. I still keep plugging away at it.

Here they are, my first bows made with the TNT Templates! It was a pain trying to figure them out, but after you make a few you really get the hang of it. I hope I can get faster at it. I also need to by the right thicker thread to do it the way they want you to, my thread kept breaking!:banghead: Your loops really do stay consistent and that will cut down on me making and remaking bows because the loops weren't even. Can't wait to make more bows using the templates!

Thanks! Our local schools are the Bulldogs and I sell lots of these bows at craft shows and such. I am adding a display to a new boutique in town and I know these will fly off the shelf (that's why there are two)

I have the templates and love them! I do have a tip for the twisted boutique bow. when you have it on the template with the needle through the center, put a little eraser on the end to prevent the ribbon from sliding off while you're adjusting the loops. You can also poke the eraser through the needle closer to the ribbon to help keep the shape of the loops while you're adjusting!

I'm still thinking about getting the templates although I did make one myself. As far as the thread breaking, I use floss and it works great. The wax floss is best as it holds much better. My Mom worked for Johnson & Johnson so we have lots of floss hanging around.

Okay, I'm going ask a really dumb question...What is the difference between the tut (instructions) and the template. I was asked on another forum if I used a tut or a template to make the 3 loop bow (from the tut here) and I said a tut. I answered and I wasn't sure if it was the same thing :confused1:.

The tute is just readable instructions, the template is a plastic piece you wrap your ribbon around where it tells you to, depending on the template. It is a physical guide to help with loop size and direction.

I bought the templates also, but I have free handed bows for so long, it's very ackward for me to get the ribbon off the template to sew, and I can't seem to get my fold right while it's on the template. My hands and fingers just don't seem to be in sync.

Although I haven't purchased the templates yet I saw a free template on the Hair Hardware http://www.hair- hardware. com/pages/ make-a-pinwheel- bow and made my own out of cardboard. I put tape around the edges and that helped the ribbon slide off much easier. I also bend the template a bit....almost like you would fold in half but only do a slight bend. So far the template is fine but when and if it gets unuseable I'll just make another.

I have both BBM and TNT and I prefer TNT. I usually hand fold my bows but am always looking for ways to make it faster and perfect. I think the instructions are really great. I love that it has charts and the templates are easy to use and made out of nice material. I always use upholstery thread, it's the best...super strong and easy to thread a needle with.

I have the TNT templates and they are awesomw too! I got downt he tbb quick. Its all about the positioning of the ribbon really to get the bow. You need to keep the back ribbon straight up and down and turn the ribbon on top to make a big X. practice, practice, practice!

I have the templates as well. They are helpful. I feel that my twisted boutique bows are pretty nice looking. I am not at my home computer right now so I cannot share a photo though. I had not really been making them prior to getting the templates because I like to make sculptures.
I really love the nobownogo yahoo group. It is fun and very helpful. I would like to purchase the printed instructions, because the e-book is saved on my computer which is not near my workspace. Another tip is to use the type of needles recommended in the instructions. That really makes a big difference.

I've had the templates a couple of months now (since I started the thread) and I'm LOVING the templates. I mainly use them for the boutique fold and pinwheel fold so far. I'll attach some sneak peak bows that I'll be adding to my new store in May. They really do make a difference!

Same here!!! I have the tut and the templates and that is the only way I can make a bow. Otherwise I am bow challenged! I am assuming TNT is the same as No Bow No Go.

I have the template and love them. The twisted bow is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The key is to keep the back of the ribbon straight and move only the top part to make a huge X and then sew. If your on the yahoo group she has added help there to make it easier.

I've been looking into ordering some templates and am reading mixed reviews on all of them. Which one is the best one to get?

BBM is Brilliant Bow Maker.....by Karyn at Little Pink Ladybug.

Little Pink Ladybug: Hairbows, Ribbon Sculpture and Useful Things (http://littlepinkladybug.com/)

Templates work differently. I have both TNT and BBM, I am anxiously waiting on the BBM twisted templates.....

I like 'em both. The BBM Classic to me was easier when I was first starting, now I prefer the TNT. The instructions that come with the TNT, and the yahoo group are wonderful.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that they were from the same company. I want to order some since I'm a newbie making bows, but just not sure which ones to really start with. I can do korkers and ribbon sculptures, but that's it so far.
