This is probably a dumb question, but here goes ;)

I want to make some 18" doll tutus...any tips or tutorials to share? would like them pretty full and fluffy.

Thanks in advance :)

I would just get the doll and measure it out to the length you want...

yeah I know that :)

I mean, is it best to use an elastic band or a crochet headband or ? those sort of tips and ideas.

I don't have a tutorial..but I make them using a hair elastic..the large thick ones and I tie them like a normal childrens tutu...except I cut the 6" tulle in half so the strips are 3" wide and I think 10 or 12 inches long. The hair elastic will stretch so do not tie too tight or it will stretch to big for your doll. HTH My dd's dolls have about 20 tutus lol...we make them all the time!!

I thought I'd share what I finally came up with :) I made a regular tutu and then thought I would try a dress. My daughter loves it! cheerl

By hair elastic are you meaning a ponytail holder? My mom and I are planning to add a line of these and had lengths and widths figured out (which happen to be the same as yours!) but a premade elastic something would be a lot simpler than sewing ealstic:) Thanks fo much for sharing!!

Thanks! My daughters are almost too old for them :( so sad for me, they are growing up :(

But my baby is going to have several years of doll-play in years to come! cheerl

Thanks! and I like the idea of the hair tie. I was worried it might stretch out but now will try it upon your recommendation :)

That is awesome!!! A friend asked me to do one for her daughter and I haven't given her a answer yet. I think I will do one now. Love the idea of using the think ponny o.

I've made the ones with the crochet headband and the elastic waistband with the tulle tied over it. Both are cute and my girls loved them.
