Hello girls, I have been making hair bows for a while, but I cant get a nice V-cut for spikes. Lighter messes them up. Can you share what you use to heat treat your ends.
Thank you so much!

For V cuts, it's best to use a lighter. What you do is fold the ribbon to get a nice even cut. Then with the ribbon still partially closed, seal with lighter, being sure to get the middle. Don't let ends touch or it will seal them together. I hope this makes sense.

That is how I do mine and it works great that way!

I use a woodburner with a chiseled tip or a knife tip.
I used to just cut like normal with scissors and then bring the chiseled tip to the ribbon, but now, I just lay the bow flat and use the knife tip and cut as necessary.
I have angle lines on my self-healing cutting mat, with a piece of glass on top of it. Using a metal ruler, cut your line from the middle point out to the ends.

I have two. I got one brand new at a yard sale for 25 cents and the other brand new at Goodwill for 50 cents! The one I use looks like the one they sell at Walmart. It is a Walnut Hollow. I use the pointed tip on mine but I don't use the woodburner to do my V-cuts. It is much easier and neater for me to snip them with scissors and then use the lighter.

Those who cut with the woodburner, how do you keep the ribbon from melting together?
