Can you make a "pillowcase" dress from just fabric and not an actual pillowcase??

I actually have never made a pillowcase dress using a pillowcase, lol. I always use fabric.

they only call them that because they started out as pillow cases and then the ladies just started making them out of fabric. You see the pillowcases are perfect shape and have a hem in the bottom already that is why they used them at first. I think i might try a few they are really easy to make.

Super simple to make the dresses from fabric and a lot more variety in what you use too. I spent so much time searching for just the right vintage pillow case when I had lovely fabric in my stash already.

Actual pillowcases are very limiting when it comes to size too, so fabric becomes a better alternative when you're making dresses for bigger kids.

I just draw out my own pattern right on the fabric. Basically the same shap as a pillow case, cut out the arms & there ya go.
